Lil Wayne pleaded guilty to felony gun possession in a Manhattan courtroom on today stemming from a July 2007 arrest following a concert in New York where he possessed a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

As part of his plea deal, he’ll be sentenced to one year in prison and he will surrender his passport. Wayne will be sentenced in February of 2010 and is expected to serve eight months, assuming good behavior.

Wayne’s tour bus was pulled over in July 2007 and he was arrested for criminal possession of the weapon while another man was arrested for criminal possession of marijuana. Wayne was released on $70,000 bond on one count of criminal weapons possession and one charge of criminal possession of a loaded weapon.

With his charges, he would have been facing 3.5 to 15 years in prison.
