The multi-talented rapper/singer/mega producer & self-proclaimed pop icon, Kanye West, unveiled his latest creation last month. Released April 4, exclusively to Nike Sportswear boutiques, the Nike Air “Yeezy”– one of Mr. West’s many alias’—is the latest brainchild of ‘Ye. Kanye’s collaborator & design partner Mark Smith, Nike’s Creative Director, took many months of sketching, designing, and deliberation to arrive at the finished product. In an interview with Marc Ecko’s Complex Magazine, West states the inspiration for creating the shoe culminated with a fusion between the “# 1 sneaker lifestyle brand & the #1 most influential cultural pop art brand…” — Kanye himself, of course.
Nike’s Air Yeezy features all the high-performance technologies that Nike labs have to offer with comfort to boot, plus a few nuances that are sure to send them flying off the shelves, and into the closets of trend-setters and fashionista’s alike.
Mr. West set off to create a “modern classic”, by the looks of it; he may have pulled it off. After dishing out at least $250—suggested retail price — you better be ready to work some extra hours our take a few nights off from your weekend regimen: but who cares about price when the damn soles GLOW in the DARK — SICK.
