The invite only cocktail and shopping event featured a limited-edition basketball that was designed as a charity item by Ralph Lauren.

Sales of the balls benefit the Lebron James Family Foundation which supports fitness programs for kids.

Among the guests in attendance was Jay-Z, Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Beckford, and many others.

The colorway’s intriguing, but it’s difficult to imagine hitting the court with a designer-branded basketball anyway.

The Fall 08/Spring 09 collection which consists of 70 pieces, is a late 1930’s inspired line drawn from old college football documentaries.

The collection consists of sweaters, striped dress shirts, corduroy blazers, and high-waisted trousers. Casual styles starting from polos and thermal knits with interesting embroidered logos to surely intrigue the costumers. Expect for the “Hey Ya!“’s hit maker to drop his collection for you guys this Fall.

Andre also shot down whispers of his line being gay:

“People feel like, just because you like to dress well … that don’t mean you’re gay! I don’t know where that came from! My thing is the 1930s you had rough guys who played football, but they were impeccably dressed. So now, if a guy wants to wash his face, they call him a metrosexual or whatever. So my thing is, cut all that out. You know? It’s clothes!”

The Diddy hosted fashion show was part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Sprint 2009. Unlike his last runway show, all the models weren’t black.

Sean “Diddy” Combs said:

“I am so excited to be a part of this Fashion Week because we are celebrating the beginning of our tenth year in business. For Fall 2008 I wanted to tell the story of a young king who matures into a great ruler. I am so passionate about this collection and I can’t wait for the crowd’s reaction to what we will be sending down the runway. The only thing people should expect is the unexpected.” He added, “I am proud to announce that this Sean John show is presented in partnership with Cadillac, the most iconic and luxurious auto brand in history. The teaming of Sean John and Cadillac combines two of the most elite brands ever and brings them into the spotlight at New York Fashion Week.”

Diddy really knows how to keep his hands full and I am not sure how he manages all the different projects he is working on.

His 2008 collection was absolutely stunning! The tailoring and fit seemed to be impeccable coming down the runway. Gorgeous furs were used and I loved the way he played around with mixing different jackets and pants together. The combination of two different fabrics gave it this unique twist that definitely seemed to work. However, the whole “cropped man sweater” thing…we could do away with that little number. I guess it could be considered high fashion, but to me its just plain awkward. I don’t know what he was thinking with the sequined sweater either. I might become a little suspect if I saw my man walk into the room with sparkles on his sweater. Nonetheless, his collection was sleek, sophisticated and was able to maintain sexy street look about it in every way possible.

Happily, those looks were just one side of Karan’s story for Fall. Structured tailoring was the other, and this was represented by suits that, though they were more than office-ready, didn’t ignore the female form. Case in point: a rose cashmere tweed cardigan jacket and wrap skirt with gentle curves. Coats, likewise, had an appealing roundness to them. Both a black-and-silver cashmere brocade coat with a blanket collar and an antiqued leather jacket looked effortlessly cool, though they were from opposite ends of the dressed-up/dressed-down spectrum. Those are the kinds of pieces that will really move once they hit stores.

As usual, the front row was a haven for A-List celebrities such as: Carine Roitfeld, Brittany Murphy, Ryan Adams and a slight and unassuming M.I.A. watched as the brand made its American debut yesterday. Of course, with the company’s 30th Anniversary coming, it’s only natural that the clothes take a turn into a more mature and expensive route. It’s only natural to follow their ever growing customers and the older the customer gets, the deeper her pockets.

The new line made sure to take advantage of this, dawning luxurious leather, fur and silk — it is undeniably a lot more expensive. The layering was absolutely genius and the color palette was incredibly classy and gorgeous. Mixing silky fabrics with more edgy leather, pumped up the volume and definitely turned heads. As far as the shoes go, ladies…I know you may not like them, but it looks as if the ankle boot is here to stay. I’m not a big fan either, but Diesel makes it work. Amazingly, the designers even stood away from the ever famous black on black palettes we’ve seen every designer have strut down the runway so far. All I can say so far is, I like. The shimmery gold palettes and mesh overlay was such an eye-catching partnership. My favorite by far were the long fingerless lambskin motorcycle gloves and sexy silk open-back boiler suits. There’s something about pairing rough with soft, the result is so sexy to me. Although the collection really didn’t have a singular direction, I’m anxious to see what else Diesel has up their sleeve.

Definitely going to have to keep my eye open for them more often especially since Diesel and Adidas are pairing up together. You heard right ladies and gentlemen! No longer just a sports company, Adidas just added another name on its high-street fashion lines with the addition of Adidas Originals by Diesel, a collectible line of extremely detailed denim for true aficionados, designed together by the Adidas Originals and Diesel creative teams. Spring / Summer 2008, the first denim collection under the label is now available at the Adidas Originals store in New York. The Atlanta flagship store is next to receive the utterly sexy line of denim next. Prices range from $160 for the female adi-rohnary model up to $210 for the male adi-viker model. Representing this long-term partnership, the range is branded by both the Adidas Originals Trefoil and the Diesel logo. Start saving up people!

Max Azria has always been one my favorite designers, but this year he might have to take the number one spot. His ability to mix feminine fabrics with edgy accessories is pure brilliance. Plus, did you check out the shoes?! They weren’t extremely flashy, but made enough of a statement and complimented the outfits flawlessly. I absolutely love how he captures this classy, feminine, frilly girl with an edge in all women. Not to mention, I adored the way he cleverly used a little bit of metallic fabrics to punch up the outfits…whether it was in a shoe, belt or a glint of eyeshadow, this man is on point with his work.

If you thought Adidas wouldn’t be able to top that…think again. On February 3, 2008 the creative minds at Y-3 brought out a 230-foot wall of ice! They called it a “glacial installation” to help provide a frosty, wet backdrop for the runway at Pier 40. With that they also brought some of the season’s new buzzwords: “purity,” “confidence,” “functionality,” and “elegance.”

This was a terrific collection that definitely hit the mark of what Y-3 should be: a little bit sporty with a lot of Yohji. The collection ran from baggy, drop-crotch Charlie Chaplin suits, to long, draped layers of gothic black. Even some Chanel-tweedy inspired jackets that recalled Yamamoto’s 1996 homage to the house that Coco built. The beauty of this still-strange marriage between Japanese avant-garde and track-and-field shone through in the artistic details. Gently flared waists and poet sleeves on a practical anorak gave the collection a look that was sure to turn heads, yet spark a movement within the industry. Although monochromatic looks were fiercefully strutting down the runway, brightly colored plaids brought an interesting and satisfying twist. Accessories shone through with classic luggage pieces and Yohji’s trademark of oversized scarves. Let’s not forget the kicks though, which appeared in a broad range of colors, shapes and styles.

The strong showing at Y-3 coincides happily with the February 5 opening of the brand’s first New York flagship, in the Meatpacking District; the doors to another major store swing open in Soho next month.
