Director Todd Phillips (Road Trip, Old School, Starsky & Hutch) latest project, The Hangover, simply delivers on just about every aspect & then some. I really wouldn’t want to spoil this movie for anyone; the simple (yet intricately weaved) plot revolves around a guy named Doug, soon to be married is taken to Las Vegas for none other than a once (sometimes twice) in a lifetime experience of the ultimate bachelor party— But things take a drastic turn for the worst— In the audiences case, a turn for the best, as they awake the next morning to find the groom missing.

This movie has everything you would expect; lots of drinking, gambling, drugs, strippers, a Mike Tyson cameo, babies, tigers, and plenty of ‘Ruffalin’. All the characters are well casted and each hold their own; Zach Galifianakis injects some of the best one-liners & off-the-wall commentary in recent memory, and at times completely steals the show.

The Hangover IS the best comedy of the year, so far, and with a #1 $45 million opening weekend box office gross, it proves that there is still some great comedy in Hollywood.

In the film, Mike Tyson examines his own life in the most vulnerable but brutally honest way through a mixture of original interviews and archival footage and photographs.

The film ranges from Mike’s earliest memories of growing up on the mean streets of Brooklyn through his entry into the world of boxing, including his rollercoaster ride through the funhouse of worldwide fame and his fortunes won and lost.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button had the most nominations with 13 overall, including acting nods for Brad Pitt and Teraji Henson. Slumdog Millionaire follows with 10 nominations.

Heath Ledger received a Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Dark Knight. The summer blockbuster also received nominations for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Makeup Design, Best Sound Editing, and Best Visual Effects.

Not only does Russian actress, Olga Kurylenko turns up the heat in Quantum of Solace she sizzles on the pages of December’s Maxim Magazine.

Director Zak Snyder changed the original ending, but it still looks promising. 

The movie will be produced by Jerry Weintraub who launched the original franchise and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, along with his partners James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz.

The project, written by Chris Murphy, will begin shooting next year in Beijing and other cities. While the new film will be set in that exotic locale, it will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor.

Jaden Smith, who stared in The Pursuit of Happyness and in the upcoming film The Day the Earth Stood Still, practices martial arts as a hobby.

Most of the voice-cast ensemble, Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, Cedric the Entertainer, will.i.am and Fergie, were spotted at this eventful evening.

Howard expected to play an expanded role in the sequel – especially since his character – which goes on to become the superhero War Machine – uttered the words “Next time” in the first film, sending comic book fans into a flurry of anticipation.

Howard explained:

“It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. The contract just…up and vanished. I read something in the magazines implicating that it was about money or something, but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren’t worth the paper that they’re printed on, sometimes. Promises aren’t kept, and good faith negotiations aren’t always held up.”

Hollywood Reporter and Variety magazines reported last week that Howard would be replaced by Don Cheadle in the sequel. Howard said it was the first time he had become aware that his contract was terminated.

Beyonce says in the November issue of InStyle about her new Etta James role:

“I gained almost 15 pounds to play the role. It was way easier – and tastier – than having to lose so much weight for Dreamgirls.”

The role also influenced her music:

“Lyrically, it’s deeper than what I’ve done before. I wasn’t mature enough or old enough, or in touch with myself enough, to do this type of album before. I didn’t have the guts.”

That payday surpasses the previous Hollywood record for a single performance, formerly held by Tom Hanks, who is currently receiving $49 million for Angels & Demons, the follow-up to The DaVinci Code.

Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley are unlikely to return for this go around, but the first 3 installments took in close to $3 billion, so we’re sure Disney will do whatever it takes to make sure the franchise stays successful.

The film made its debut this year at New York’s Tribeca Film festival and surprisingly Mariah actually received good reviews. Aaron Woodley of Time Out New York magazine said, “Carey is surprisingly subdued here…She mostly keeps her celebrity complex at bay, allowing her to effectively embody her level headed Southern-gal character.”

Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better “re-invention” (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT’s, in a live action film–like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc…there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original “first” TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right–but no official word yet…will keep you posted. How many of you 80′s babies are still interested in TMNT the way you were Transformers?

At the current rate, the movie could reach $550 million. While the film is doing well now, Dan Fellman, the head of distribution at Warner Bros. Inc told CNN that the movie may hit only about $530 million due to a predicted slow decline in box office sales. With the current and unfortunate rate of inflation the movie would still have to sell $900 million worth of tickets to break the record for no. 1 currently held by the Blockbuster film Titanic, which brought in $600.8 million 11 years ago.

The somewhat controversial comedy Tropic Thunder reigned supreme for the third weekend in a row, bringing in $14.3 million so far this holiday weekend. The movie which consists of Robert Downey Jr. portraying an overzealous actor who wears blackface, yes BLACKFACE, has reach an estimated total of $86.6 million. The rest of the weekend went as follows…

While it looks as if theatres have been quite busy bringing in $86.4 million in the past three days, due to the onset of Hurricane Gustav near the Louisiana coast, the movie industries earnings were still down 23 percent when compared to the same weekend one year ago. Even still, a lot of people came out pretty good financially especially when I’ve never even seen a commercial for the no. 4 movie.
