This 2007 FiFi Award winner (Oh, for those of you living under a rock, the FiFi Awards are considered to be the Oscar awards of the fragrance world) is said to bring in $100 million globally during its first-year over-the-counters. Diddy’s I Am King fragrance was developed by Combs and the Estee Lauder Cos.’ Karyn Khoury and Trudi Loren of the International Flavors & Fragrances with the essence of cranberry, tangerine zest, juicy orange, key lime pie, crème de cassis, premium Champagne, cedarwood, white moss, sandalwood and a proprietary Imperial French berry note, with clean powdery undertones.

According to Diddy, I Am King is a statement about all men. “We are all descendants of royalty and if we carry ourselves and respect ourselves in that manner and believe in ourselves, then we are all kings,” says Diddy during a recent interview with WWD.com.

Ford, also long time friends with Badu considered her to be the best choice for the beauty campaign. “I have always considered her a true beauty … she just fits,” says Ford.

According to Ford, he wanted to reinvent the essence of patchouli. “I loved the idea of mixing patchouli with white florals. We used patchouli orpur, which takes out some of the darker, smoky notes of patchouli. We mixed that with peony, bergamot, and jasmine with additional hints of rose, coriander and ambrette seed,” says Ford, during a recent interview.

Tom Ford, also the winner of The 2008 Cosmetic Executive Women Beauty Award (CEW Beauty Awards) will launch White Patchouli in September and is said to release in all of Tom Ford’s flagship store chains and major retail stores across the country.

The perfume is available in a white glass bottle in the following sizes: 1.7 oz. ($92); 3.4 oz. ($138); and the hydrating body lotion ($45).

“It was hard for me to decide whether to take it on because I had directed an ad for Dior before with Hedi Slimane, it was one of the last major projects before he left, so it was a very tumultuous time.

The new ad was completely different from Hedi’s aesthetic. This time it was the marketing guys calling all the shots, but in the end it was still a great project. I would be working with an A-list actor and shooting in the Bahamas with a team of 70 people, so ultimately I felt it was too good to pass up.”

This is the third fragrance in Kimora Lee Simmons collection. The first two were, Baby Phat Goddess in 2005, and Baby Phat Golden Goddess in 2006. The fragrance comes in two sizes, 50ml (1.7 fl. oz.) and 100ml (3.4 fl. oz.) bottles. The collection includes matching body care products, body lotion Body Soufflé, and bath salt Bath Diamonds.

The bottle is a real small jewel, it is glass made cut like a brilliant and shaped in a way to be leaned on one side in order to emphasize its line and its sheen.
